My traditionally hand-painted oil portraits on stretched canvas are lovingly crafted with an expressive style that not only captures your loved one’s likeness, but also their spirit. I am classically trained in the style of the old masters but I bring a modern, individual approach to every dog portrait, equestrian portrait and human portrait. I work exclusively in oils, and use only the finest materials and time-tested techniques to ensure your portrait will stand the test of time.

When preparing for a portrait, I prefer to meet the subject to get a sense of their personality. Should a child be smiling or soulful? Should a dog look regal or playful? These are things that are best determined in person. This is especially true with childrens oil portraits. I am willing to travel to get the perfect photo for reference, but when that is not possible, as in the case of a posthumous memorial, I can work from the right photograph. When the portrait is finished, I will be happy to help you choose a frame that both highlights the subject and goes well with your home décor.

Selecting the artist for your commission is an important decision. The final piece will be family heirloom that will endure for the rest of your life, and probably beyond. I am a consummate professional and will work closely with you to ensure that the end product is a unique and very personal piece of artwork that you’ll be proud to display for years to come. If you would like to celebrate a loved one, commemorate a career achievement, or give a truly incomparable gift, I would be happy to speak with you about your ideas for a commissioned oil portrait.
